Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority celebrated its three-year anniversary with a special event that took place on May 7th at the Authority’s premises.
The event was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas, the Secretary General of Transport, Mrs. Despoina Paliarouta, the former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr Christos Staikouras, and representatives of the Greek aviation market.
The most important achievements of the Authority in all areas related to civil aviation activity in Greece were presented during the event, as well as the significant progress made, as recorded in the results of the assessments by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). These achievements were reflected in a special anniversary edition published by the HCAA and presented in the context of the celebration of the Authority’s three years of operation.
Dr Kostas Iatrou in his forward stated: “In my capacity as Director General of Hermes Air Transport Organisation, I would like to warmly congratulate you and your associates on the occasion of the third anniversary since the beginning of operations of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA).
The separation of regulatory and oversight activities from those of the operator was a structural yet very essential reform of the civil aviation sector in Greece in 2020. The roadmap, however, to accomplish this task was full of challenges; yet, under your thoughtful leadership, the HCAA has managed to achieve very important milestones for the development of the civil aviation sector not only in Greece but also at a global level within a very short period.
The collaboration between the HCAA and Hermes – Air Transport Organisation has been exemplary and very fruitful. The HCAA has actively participated in and/or observed Hermes events all over the world; moreover, the CAA has proved a major supporter of Hermes initiatives and was a signatory party of the Declaration Aviation4 All in December 2024.
The HCAA can always count in our collaboration for a better civil aviation world in the years to come!”
